Volunteer Opportunities

(Training will be provided as appropriate)

We offer a range of volunteer opportunities here at the Centre. If you are looking to develop your skills (or learn new skills), gain new experiences and meet new people, check out the list of volunteering roles we currently have available below and see which roles most suit your current skills and requirements.

For further information, you can drop in to the Centre on the 1st Thursday of every month between 10:30am and 12:30pm for an informal chat or contact us on our Contact Us page.

Reader for reading group
The Centre is proposing a Reading Group.  If you would be interested in coming along for a couple of hours during the week and volunteering as a reader we would be happy to hear from you.  You will provide an invaluable service to others who might benefit from this.  If you or anyone you know has at least 3 hours per week to spare and would like to join the Centre's team of dedicated Volunteers please contact us for an informal chat.

Meeters and Greeters 

The volunteer will be the first point of contact with users of the Centre. You will help represent the Centre by sign posting and directing residents to the Services that they require. You will be willing to gain a broad knowledge of what’s going on in the Centre and learn more about the local area as well as bringing your own understanding. You will be required to help representatives of local organisations and services to set up their pitches as and when they come into the Centre. One essential task for you to complete is a Customer Survey Form with every resident that visits the Centre, there could be other surveys to complete from time to time.

You will be required to give a minimum of 3 hours per week and have good interpersonal skills.

Booking Coordinator

You will need to have good communication skills

Be able to coordinate different organisations that may want to attend the Chadwell St Mary Centre

Listen to what residents want and help source the organisations that would benefit the area

You will need to work on your own initiative as well as work as part of a team

You will also need to help coordinate the volunteers 

Marketing and Social Media volunteer

We are looking for 1 or 2 individuals that would take on the important role of Marketing and Publications; this would cover all social networking sites and updating of the new website.

As well as analysing information from the sites to help better benefit the Centre.

You must be able to commit regular time each week to this role.

You must be able to upload onto various website and social media sites.

IT Support

You will be required to help people in the new Chadwell St Mary Centre to fill in online applications for housing and other transactions.

A good computer knowledge is required as well as a calm friendly approach to others who may find using a computer intimidating

Full training will be given to the right candidate

A time commitment is required of at least 3 hours per week for this role

During quiet periods you will be required to help with general duties in the Centre.

Cash handling and customer service

Credit Union Essex Savers offers support to those needing financial advice and information. The service is so well used in other areas that we are looking to have the same service in the Chadwell St Mary Centre to offer members of the community this fantastic service we need a team of 'fantastically money minded volunteers' to enable them to do so.

This is a very important role and training will be provided.
